[edit]The "culture" section could use an environmentalism subsection, nature is a big part of Wyoming culture. Here are a few relevant links from a quick search:

deletion of text about Custodia vs the Fed
[edit]Hi Magnolia677, This is a cursory deletion. The appeal has not failed. There was a hearing on January 21 but I have not seen any result. I’m not sure if Long/the bank are not-notable, but the lawsuit is certainly notable: it “could have profound implications for the future of state banking charters and the nation's payments systems”, according to American Banker. Even if it fails, Trump's attitude could influence it getting through.
The NY Times piece explains the background of this unusual lawsuit, with Long trying to overturn a policy of the Kansas City Fed and the central Federal Reserve. The Times puts the case in the context of Long as a former lawmaker benefitting from a law she helped put inplace. Fortune magazine has said she "turned Wyoming into crypto country".
Some lawmakers regard it as vital for Wyoming state policy. They envision the state should get its own master license if the appeal ultimately fails.
It has also drawn in Paul D. Clement, who was Solicitor General for Bush, and Don Verrilli, Obama’s solicitor general.
The case has been reported in depth by the Wyoming mainstream media; the national banking and legal specialist media; and, of course, in the crypto media.
Long let go multiple staff from Custodia to gather the dollars to pursue the case. The WSJ and another report suggest Custodia is now holding off because it expects a lighter regulatory approach from the Trump administration, which feeds in to Trump’s use of crypto to his family’s benefit.
There is too much detail to want to go into all this in the paragraph (and Custodia was called Avanti to add to the confusion). Also, most of the sources are behind paywalls or professional services. So I would suggest reinstating the text with the appeal date and added links:
1. a Bloomberg Law report,
2. the latest of the WSJ reports,
3. and the appeals court search page for the submissions recording (there could also be link to the Jan 21 2025 Bloomberg Law report of the hearing, but this is a professional database whereas the court recording is free). Basketballjo (talk) 18:03, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
